November 4, 2020

AUSTIN—The following can be attributed to Todd Staples, president of the Texas Oil & Gas Association:

“Texas oil and natural gas leads in resource development, creating jobs and supporting economic growth while taking every step to protect the environment. Commissioner-Elect Jim Wright knows this, and we are confident that as a Railroad Commissioner he will continue to embrace science-based regulation and foster an environment that encourages investment and innovation. The oil and natural gas industry is indispensable to our modern way of life and has been the lifeblood of the Texas economy, paying billions to fund our schools, roads, emergency services and our Rainy Day Fund, supporting hundreds of thousands of high-paying jobs, and providing affordable, reliable energy for Texas homes and businesses. We look forward to continuing to work with state leaders to provide a cleaner, stronger and better future for all Texans and we welcome the addition of Jim Wright to the Railroad Commission of Texas.”
