Statement: TXOGA Statement on Fuel Supplies

August 31, 2017

The following can be attributed to Todd Staples, president of the Texas Oil & Gas Association.

As Hurricane Harvey dissipates refineries and terminals are assessing the damage that may have occurred due to the storm. While typical supply patterns may be disrupted, operators continue to work with local, state and federal officials to obtain necessary regulatory approvals and identify alternative routes to mitigate those disruptions.

The fuel distribution system in Texas and across the nation is very large and individual companies are directing all resources to safely re-engage the necessary infrastructure to work through the challenging circumstances. The industry is working to stabilize the supply chain and working with our partners in the retail gasoline business to meet the demands they are experiencing.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency encourages consumers to maintain their regular buying habits for their vehicles, which can help alleviate a sudden surge in demand.
