Landowners Rights
For decades, landowners and public use entities have negotiated to guarantee that private property rights are respected and preserved throughout the eminent domain process while ensuring that essential infrastructure can be built.
Just like highways and high-speed internet lines, pipelines for oil, natural gas and fuel are one of the ways eminent domain is used to make certain the needs of a growing, thriving Texas are met through the building of essential infrastructure.
The Texas Constitution recognizes that the use of eminent domain to acquire property for infrastructure benefits the citizenry, but is intended to be used only as a last resort. Industry believes in a strong and durable framework that treats property owners respectfully and fairly, promotes the efficient and timely resolution of disputes, and strengthens long-term relationships between property owners and infrastructure development.
