2024 TXOGA Houston Energy Summit Features Houston Mayor John Whitmire, NASDAQ President Nelson Griggs, and TXOGA President Todd Staples

HOUSTON – Houston Mayor John Whitmire and NASDAQ President Nelson Griggs today headlined the 2024 Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) Houston Energy Summit where business and community leaders from across the region convened to hear from local officials as well as energy and economic experts.

Moderated by TXOGA President and former Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, the summit covered a range of topics including state and federal energy issues, global market dynamics, an economic outlook for Texas and a look ahead to the 89th Texas Legislature.

“The Texas oil and natural gas industry is proud of its long, productive history with the vibrant city of Houston. The energy sector, in partnership with strong leaders like those featured here today, is delivering cleaner, stronger and better energy to meet the needs of today and opportunities of tomorrow,” Staples said in his remarks to open the summit.

Staples moderated a discussion with Houston Mayor Whitmire, who shared his perspectives as a leader of a global energy hub and a former Texas legislator, covering topics including public-private partnerships, workforce development, global competitiveness and infrastructure development.

NASDAQ President Nelson Griggs sat down with TXOGA Board Member and Apache Corporation Senior Vice President Castlen Kennedy for an engaging conversation about capital market dynamics, the economic impact of the regulatory landscape for the energy sector, and investment trends in emerging energy technologies and innovation.

“Today’s program reinforced Texas’s role as a global energy leader, whose products, practices and innovations are making the world a better, safer place. We know that policy can promote prosperity, or hinder it. Smart policy, and continued collaboration with lawmakers and stakeholders, will allow Texas to continue answer the world’s call for reliable and responsibly produced energy,” said Staples.
